If you want a drink that is refreshing but not complicated, that is satisfying but clean (and preferably without alcohol), then this Green Tea Slushie Recipe checks off all the boxes. It's easy and accessible and is the perfect warm-weather refreshment you can make all season long.
Boasting just three ingredients (not including garnishes), our slushie will keep you cool as the temperatures heat up. It also offers a lot of health benefits thanks to our choice of the highest grade loose leaf green tea from Mark T. Wendell. We will discuss this more below, along with some other teas you can try for today's recipe, and of course, delicious pairings!

What to Expect – Green Tea Slushie Recipe Overview
As stated above, today's recipe requires only three ingredients- filtered water, green tea, and honey. Let's face it, while it's nice to have the occasional boujee drink, not everything you make needs to require multiple steps or ingredients to feel gourmet and elegant.
Today's slushie can be dressed up nicely for guests, but if you're just craving something cold and sweet on a lazy afternoon, it is equally fitting.
Taste and Texture: There are many different kinds of green tea on the market these days, and while some can have more of a 'bite' than others, the Green Paradise blend from Mark T. Wendell is fresh and sweet with a very light, aromatic flavor. We blend it with raw honey for added sweetness and flavor over sugar.
When it comes to the term 'slushie', some may envision a snowcone-like concoction, but that also depends on how much crushed ice you add to your drink. I wanted it to still feel like a drink, but crushing the ice rather than just using cubes allows for rapid chilling. I also don't like chunks of ice in my drinks, so crushing ice is always a preferred method for me.
Difficulty: It goes without saying that this recipe could not get any easier or simpler. Of course, if you like, you can always make it a little more upscale with a sugar rim as pictured and adding different garnishes, but that remains optional.
Prep Process: Of course, you want to brew your tea first and let it cool to room temperature beforehand. If you are serving this up for guests and going the extra step, slice your fruit garnishes and rim your glasses before crushing the ice. I use my smoothie blender on the crush setting to get the perfect shaved ice result, but this step should always be last. That's the quick recipe breakdown you'll need before getting started.
Ingredient Checklist – What You Need for our Green Tea Slushie Recipe
- Green Tea - Green tea comes in a lot of different varieties, and not all green tea leaves are the same, in fact, far from it. For today's drink, I'm using the Green Paradise Tea, which is a blend of Sencha tea leaves and delicate pieces of strawberry, raspberry, rhubarb, rose petals, mallow flowers, and cornflower. Combined, it creates a vibrant yet light blend that's soothing and refreshing, hot or cold.
- Substitutions: You can use any type of tea for today's drink. A few recommendations I have are Orange Citrus White Tea, Evergreen Supreme Oolong Tea, or for an even sweeter result, Tropicana Iced Tea Blend and Guava Strawberry Fruit Tisane.
- MTW x LTG: As longtime partners of Mark T. Wendell, all LTG readers get a special discount on their tea orders. - Honey - I prefer honey over sugar in iced tea since it's sweeter, and a drizzle here and there goes a long way. Unfiltered honey is overall a better alternative, too, due to its antioxidants and enzymes. Now, of course, you can use sugar as well, if you happen to prefer it. The result will be just as delicious!
- Ice - Filtered water ice is important because no matter what, the ice dilutes your beverages, and shaved ice dissolves more quickly than cubes. In either case, it's always important to make sure your ice is made with filtered water.
- Garnishes - Let's talk garnishes. This 'ingredient step' is completely optional, but why not take some time to make things look a little extra? You're worth it. There's no rule saying presentation only matters if you're having guests over. Now, to keep in the 'green theme' today, I used limes over lemons and slices of kiwis. To rim your glasses, simply run a slice of lime all around the edge of your glass, then dip it in sugar (I used raw sugar for bigger crystals).
- Substitutions: Green grapes would also be really nice here, and a sprig of mint for added shades of green. You can incorporate color if you wish, with berries, orange slices, and even melon would be quite fitting for summer.
Green Tea Slushie Recipe Pairings
There are many different options that today's Green Tea Slushie can be served alongside. Here are some of our favorites:
- Sandwiches & Wraps: Cucumber Tea Sandwiches is a quintessential pairing, so if you're looking for a simple yet elegant recipe, we've got one right here for you. Then, on the other hand, a hearty Parmesan Spinach Burger and cool tea sounds very tempting for the season. Alternatively, a vegetarian menu also pairs perfectly with a cool glass of green tea wellness. Keeping with the clean eats theme, our Chickpea Salad Sandwich or Fresh Garden Tacos with Cilantro Dressing will surely delight.
- Breakfast/Lunch: With Mother's Day on my mind, I cannot help but think of a brunch menu. While some of our sandwiches and wraps certainly fit the bill, something like our Zucchini and Onion Omelet or Bacon and Cheese Quiche would also be perfect.
- Appetizers always pair well with a cool drink. We have a vast collection of finger foods and starters to pair with today's slushie for those balmy summer months. My mind cannot help but immediately go to our French Cheese Board for such occasions.
- Dessert: I bet you didn't think of serving a cold drink with dessert, but it makes a lovely combination. Think fruit salads, no-bake desserts, or a citrusy surprise!

Description
Crushed ice, sweet honey, and crisp green tea come together in this refreshing Green Tea Slushie recipe for the ultimate summer drink!
Ingredients
- 3 cups filtered water
- 3 teaspoons loose leaf Green Paradise Blend (or your favorite sweet green tea blend)
- 1/4 cup raw honey, divided (see instructions)
- Ice, crushed
- Lime slices
- Fresh kiwi slices
- Turbinado sugar, for rimming the glasses
Instructions
- Bag 3 teaspoons of green tea and set aside.
- Bring 3 cups of filtered water to a boil. Remove from the heat and add the prepared tea and about 3 tablespoons of honey. Allow the tea to steep while the water cools to room temperature. Once cooled, discard the tea bag and transfer the tea to a pitcher and refrigerate until ready to serve (at least 30 minutes).
- Prepare your garnishes beforehand by slicing the limes and kiwis. To rim the glasses, run a slice of lime along the edge of each glass and then dip the glasses in turbinado sugar.
- In a blender, crush the ice. Fill each glass halfway with the crushed ice. Add the sliced limes and kiwis 'tucking' them into the ice so they stay in place. Drizzle extra honey and then add more ice until the glasses are full.
- Pour the chilled tea over the crushed ice and serve. Enjoy!
