The classic Old Fashioned cocktail gets a mini makeover this season but still serves up a warmly spiced, comforting drink for the holidays.

The Old & The New

An Old Fashioned cocktail is perhaps one of the most quintessential drinks of the season. Muddling sugar and bitters with warm brandy is inarguably soothing, as it is festive.

Today we're recreating one of my favorites but with some minor alterations- apple cider and dried orange slices. Naturally, you can also serve this cocktail sans the alcohol. Since I forwent the liqueur already in today's recipe the only ingredient you need to omit is the rum. It'll be just as refreshing and delicious. Additionally, you can also serve this hot.

A lot of you have been long-time fans of the Diamond Whiskey Glasses, so I was excited to share with you today's sugar rimmed Double Walled Brandy Snifters, courtesy of our friends at Dragon Glassware.

Inspired by the classic snifter glass, these double-walled whiskey glasses facilitate natural aeration, ensuring the double-walled insulated design helps retain temperature while creating the beautiful illusion that your drink is suspended in air. It adds the most elegant touch to your holiday bar tray this year, so treat yourself or someone you love to a set today.

More Drinks to Serve this Holiday Season

  • Italian Eggnog White Russian - This beloved winter cocktail is getting a makeover with a splash of Torani Italian Eggnog Syrup and if that isn't enough, we're topping it off with whipped coffee.
  • Dalgona Coffee (Whipped Coffee Drink) - a whipped creamy drink that is sure to please all coffee lovers and boasts of only 3 ingredients!
  • Gingerbread Eggnog Coffee - This at-home pour-over recipe you'll make for yourself this season with warm notes of ginger and cinnamon paired with the richness of molasses and eggnog.
  • Drinkworks - Ring in the holidays with Drinkworks, the ultimate home bar you didn't even realize you were missing- until now. Simply pop in your favorite drink pod and press go. It's just that easy to make delicious inspired cocktails at the comfort of your own home.

Catherine, I've never been much for rum, but I do love apple cider so I'd give this adult beverage a try. Have a great Thanksgiving! Stay Safe and Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
