Today, we're taking a look at the Vera Wang Côtes de Provence Rosé 2024, which was just released over the summer. This wine is produced in collaboration with the historic Château Roubine, one of only eighteen Crus Classé wineries in Provence.
Now, without further introduction, let's get tasting.

Wine Overview
Quick Facts

ABV: This wine is 13% alcohol by volume.
Price: About $19 to $25, depending on the outlet and region.
Region - Côtes de Provence, France
This wine was produced in Provence, which is considered a benchmark region for rosé wine globally. This region enjoys hot and dry summers, mild winters, and scarce rainfall. Meanwhile, cold and dry wind sweeps in from the north from the Rhone Valley. This "Mistral Wind" is crucial for the area's viticulture, as it keeps the vineyards dry, preventing diseases, while moderating the area's summer temperatures. This works to protect the grapes' acidity.
The region features a varied topography, a mix of mountain ranges and gentle slopes, meaning the soils are mostly a mix of clay and limestone in the west, while crystalline and granite-based soils dominate the east. The vineyards of Château Roubine, in Lorguese, are renowned for the clay-limestone soil, which ensures well-drained vineyards.
Aromatic and Tasting Notes
On the Nose
Immediate fruit notes off the top of the glass, along with mixed red berries, lots of strawberry, and a hint of acidic raspberry. On second whiff, there are hints of ripe, juicy cherry. Deeper into the glass, there is some citrus zest and grapefruit. There are also some delicate floral aspects to the bouquet, though that may be me lingering too long on the nose.
On the Palate
The fruit carries over quite nicely, framed in a vibrant acidity, with a pleasantly silky texture. Wild berries and citrus are at the fore.
Finish
Clean and refreshing, with notes of fruit and minerals lingering on the palate.
Food Pairings
Appetizers and light bites
- Charcuterie board: For me, this is the obvious go-to pairing. This bottle would be a delight alongside appetizers, pairing particularly well with cured meats like prosciutto and salami, as well as olives, figs, and dried fruit.
- Goat cheese and crostini: The acidity of the rosé cuts through the richness of creamy goat cheese, creating a balanced and refreshing bite.
- Tapenade and spreads: Its fresh flavors are a classic match for spreads made from olives, bell peppers, or eggplant.
- Caprese salad: The simple combination of fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil would be a perfect complement to the wine's acidity.
Seafood
- Grilled seafood: You had to see this one coming. Rosé wine and grilled fish, such as salmon or tuna, and shellfish like shrimp, crab, or mussels, are a match made in heaven.
- Fish tacos: I could easily see this wine's crispness working well with some spicy fish tacos, such as my wasabi mayo and shrimp tacos.
Wine Score and Verdict
The Score
Given the very accessible price tag and the high quality-to-price point ratio offered by this bottle, I'll score it a solid 90 out of 100.
Who is this wine for?
Anyone who follows Vera Wang and loves wine is the primary target for this bottle. In addition, anyone who loves rosé wine and wants to indulge in something elegant tasting - without a prohibitive price tag - is also part of the intended audience.
