Looking at the site for One Degree Organic Foods, their story reads as a mission statement – “Sometimes it takes a few simple ideas to start a revolution. For the French it was liberte, egalite, fraternite. Our grand idea is simplicity itself; Simplicity, sustainability, integrity. This better way is not our own invention. We’ve found it in the rhythms of nature, the wisdom of generations, the virtues of family farmers.” Perhaps, however, this tone is by design. One Degree Organic Foods ensures that ethics are maintained not only behind consumption, but behind the production of that which is consumed. In this way, the soil that nourishes the food we eat is itself nourished, while the farmers who harvest are treated with the dignity their work deserves. For this reason, One Degree Organic Foods is right to see themselves as being among the forefront of the organic sustainability movement.
