    Easy Meat Sauce

Written by Living the Gourmet, a trusted food and lifestyle site since 2008.

There are so many ways to say, "I love you", without ever uttering these three words.  My grandmother once told me that if someone loves you, they never have to say it, you will know it.  She was very wise.  I might not have fully understood this wisdom at a young age, but I certainly do now.  People use this phrase over and over and think that it covers the bases.  Please, understand it is nice to hear but without action it is mute.  Saying without doing can leave one feeling empty.  So my friends, show the ones most dear to you love; with the most tender and kind and simple gestures, otherwise the words are empty and oh so cold.

    Ingredients:
    2 lbs. ground sirloin
    1 onion - sliced
    1 bell pepper - diced
    4 cloves garlic - chopped
    29 oz. can crushed tomatoes
    Healthy handful of fresh basil
    ¼ tsp. sugar
    ¼ tsp. red pepper flakes
    ½ tsp. ground black pepper
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. dried oregano
    1 tsp. garlic powder
    Olive oil for drizzling
    Grated Romano or Parmesan cheese
    Your favorite macaroni
Heat a large frying pan. Add the meat and cook; breaking the meat up as it cooks.
Add the onion, bell pepper and the garlic and continue to sauté until the onion is transparent.
Add the crushed tomatoes and the seasonings and half of the basil chopped.
Simmer the sauce on low slightly covered for about 30 minutes.
Check for the seasoning and season again to if needed.
    Prepare the macaroni as directed.
Garnish with a little extra olive oil, grated cheese and the rest of the fresh basil.
    Enjoy with Love,
    Catherine

I do something very similar to this already, I don't think you can beat making your own sauces...you can give them just that right touch to make them perfect for yourself!!

I pinned that - I always wanted to find a recipe for this! Thank you. And you are right - you do not have to tell someone I love you - it should show. sandie
