There is something so comforting about the sweet smell of cinnamon and oranges, and it tastes even better when warm and gooey…fresh from the oven.
It’s perfect in the morning…and even better at the end of a long day of work.
There are more recipes out there that call for slow rising cinnamon buns…but who’s kidding who here? When I want a cinnamon roll, I want it now. And who has time to wait hours for the dough to rise and puff? Those long waits turn me right off…
Fortunately, I have a recipe for instant cinnamon buns. I don’t think it can get any better.
The turnout was a soft, light dough…moist and delicious, with a perfect blend of sugar and spice.
So, let’s not dillydally any longer, time to get baking.
PREP TIME: 10 MINUTES
COOK TIME: 15 MINUTES
FOR CINNAMON BUNS YOU WILL NEED:
2 ½ cups AP flour
¼ cup sugar
1½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoons baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
¼ cup whole milk
3 tablespoons margarine (melted)
FOR FILLING YOU WILL NEED:
2 tablespoons margarine (melted)
½ cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
FOR ORANGE GLAZE YOU WILL NEED:
½ cup confectioners’ sugar
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Approximately 5 tablespoons of whole milk
2 tablespoons orange zest
(This recipe will make a light glaze. Double the sugar content if you desire a thicker glaze)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Line a square baking dish and set aside.
Combine all ingredients for cinnamon buns into the bowl of your stand mixer. Roll out on a well-floured, surface. Roll out into a 10 x 5 inch rectangle.
Melt margarine for the filling and combine brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Using a pastry brush, spread the melted margarine over the dough. Sprinkle the cinnamon filling all over the dough.
Gently roll the dough. Slice log, should make about 6 rolls. (I’m probably the only person in the world who would get an uneven amount…but hey, I’m not complaining ;))
Place the rolls into the prepared baking dish and lightly brush each roll with the remaining margarine.
Bake for about 15 minutes.
Immediately remove the rolls from the pan and transfer to a dish.
Combine all ingredients for orange glaze and drizzle over the buns. Best if served warm with a cup of coffee 😉
It's been a pleasure blogging for you today!

Interesting recipe. I'm curious about using baking powder and soda instead of yeast. I'll have to give it a try. They look delicious!
