What does it take to be a gourmet, a chef, or even just a really great cook? Three things, actually, all of which are easily within your grasp. First, it takes imagination. With a little imagination and a few ripe ingredients, you’d be surprised just how far you can really go. You can open up windows into your own soul, and visit exotic lands. Second, you have to be able to understand the world around you on your terms. This might sound a little out of place, but when you’re cooking for yourself or for a party of a hundred, your kitchen becomes your realm, and the ingredients your tools with which to create. Lastly, you need to be able to be patient with yourself, nothing comes easy, and very, very few things come at first try. You just need to be able to learn from each experience and find the good. And remember, anything worthwhile takes effort, but all things are possible taken one step at a time.
Here at Living the Gourmet, we want to lift the veil on what many, rightly or wrongly, considered some of the secrets of kitchen, the culinary ‘jewels’ if you will. We, a crew of three, hope to open a world of simple pleasures to those who read this by presenting the tools necessary to gain confidence and imagination inside of the kitchen. Through the recipes we present here, we hope to be able to convey, in the simplest and purest terms possible, what it takes to truly ‘Live the Gourmet,’ and set you on the road to opening up all the culinary treasures one’s heart could desire.
Cheers!

LOVE this blog! Can't wait to try the recipes. Very informative about the garlic liquid as an insect repellent. I'll be purchasing some of that next summer, for sure.
Terrific, informative, exciting blog. Great pictures. I'm salivating...
