Dear Friends,
Hurricane Irene has come and gone. She has left much devastation in her path. She has brought tears and loss, but she also brought something else.
For me she brought hope. I live in Amityville,
For me Hurricane Irene brought hope for the future. That is what she left behind for me. She brought together both the neighbors and family.
She made the kindness of people shine through.
Hurricane Irene was a powerful storm, nevertheless, she left behind for me renewed strength, renewed family and a stronger spirit. It is like the lyrics in the song from the Sound of Music, “When you walk through a storm hold your head up high and don’t be afraid of the dark, at the end of the storm is a golden cloud and the sweet sliver song of a lark.”
With my love,
Catherine

Catherine, I so understand the feelings your have. I had no idea who my neighbors were until we were hit by four hurricanes in 2004. We had to rebuild our house, everyone helped. Fema was wonderful. We met people from all over willing to help and yes hope restored itself. I am so glad your safe. Material things suddenly have no meaning and life more precious than ever God Bless you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Glad you are safe and optimistic. My son lives in a neighborhood that was devastated by a tornado this past summer - I have a healthy respect for Mother Nature.;

Glad you are well and Irene did not do more damage. She did enough that will take years to get over in some areas. Will take a while for my town in NC, but I am also one of the lucky ones.
Stay blessed! gi-gi
