Hot Dogs with Black Beans Featuring Frank’s Kraut

What better way to welcome the spring weather than with a hot dog and all the dressings?!!

Hot Dogs with Black Beans & Sauerkraut

Ingredients

  • 8 hot dogs
  • Frank’s Kraut
  • Your favorite bun or flat bread
  • For the Black Beans
  • 19 oz can black beans – drained
  • 1 large onion – sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic – chopped
  • 3 vine ripe tomatoes – diced
  • ¼ cup Italian parsley – chopped
  • ½ large jalapeño – diced with or without seeds
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. black pepper
  • 1 tsp. ground cumin
  • ½ tsp. turmeric
  • 2 -3 tbs. olive oil

Instructions

  1. Heat a medium sized frying pan with olive oil. Add the garlic, onions, tomatoes and jalapeño and sauté until the onion is softened and the garlic is fragrant.
  2. Add the beans, parsley and the seasonings and sauté until the beans are heated.
  3. Heat the Frank's Kraut in a saucepot.
  4. Cook the hot dogs as desired; grilled or boiled.
  5. Plate the flat bread topped with Frank’s Kraut next the beans and finally the hot dog. Garnish with mustard or your favorite condiment.

    Hi Catherine, I love a good hot dog once in a while, especially in the warmer weather. Love sauerkraut with them on a toasted bun. I never had the bean topping before, but it looks fabulous. A terrific added addition to a great hot dog. Have to try this one...thank you for sharing...:)

    Hi Catherine, thanks for commenting on my blog; your blogs sure has changed a lot since the last time I visited...I really love it and all the fabulous dishes and dessert you've made!
    I love the black beans the way you made it; nice and spicy. I would love to eat it on the side with the yummy chicken you made on the previous post. As for me, a hot dog bun is a must, and the sauer kraut is super yummy. It is a great idea to eat it on flat bread so you can just wrap the entire goodies without spilling it over! Hugs,
