It is not always possible to start your day with a nice, complete breakfast. As a matter of fact I think that a home cooked breakfast is becoming more of a luxury than a norm. As Fats Domino sang, “Aint that a shame”.
One of my prayers is that family gets to know each others faces. That it will someday be a norm to have breakfast with each other, that they look forward to seeing each other and that when they don’t; they miss each others company.
I know that the world moves faster than I do and that my thoughts are sometimes referred to as “simple”, but this is my prayer and I know that if the family sat down together to eat a meal it would be a start to a happier time. As was taught to Bob in, What About Bob, “baby steps”.
Ingredients:
Eggs – prepared how you like them (fried or scrambled)
Shredded cheddar cheese
For the “French” Toast:
6 slices of bread
3 eggs – beaten with a splash of milk
1 tbs. of butter for the pan
Powdered sugar for dusting the toast
Add to the egg wash:
1 tsp. brown sugar
Dash of cinnamon
Dash of ground cumin
Dash of ground curry
Dash of salt
Dash of black pepper
Prepare the egg wash.
Heat a large frying on medium to low with the butter. You do not want the butter to burn.
Dip the bread in the egg wash. Place in the heated frying pan. When the toast is golden and firm on one side, flip and finish cooking.
Place in plate and sprinkle the shredded cheese on top while still hot.
While cooking the “French” toast; prepare the eggs in a smaller pan so that they are both ready at the same time.
Top the toast with the eggs, some more shredded cheese and drizzle syrup around the plate.
Enjoy with Love,
Catherine

Catherine, and I thought Big Dude was the master of breakfast! Even he has never posted anything like this... I personally have never have been able reconcile the idea of protein and sweets together but I do know that a lot of folks really like it. Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

You are so right and I do so like it when we can sit down and have a proper breakfast together. Mostly we are dashing about and I'm eating a slice of toast on the run to work. I am bookmarking this idea of yours though, it sounds fabulous. I haven't made French toast in a very long time and I've never had it served the way you've done it.

Hi Catherine, wish I can come over now for breakfast. Your breakfast set look awesome. I love french toast and eggs is still the best food when we run out of ideas. :))
Have a wonderful weekend. Hugs to you.
