Moist, sweet, and oh so comforting! This Prune Bread is perfect for breakfast or dessert!
There are two paintings I have hanging in my work space that remind me of autumn in the country with their golden hues of burnt sienna and ochre, framed in brushed gilt.
If I had to liken autumn in New York to a specific scene, it would be these paintings. I've always admired them and the warmth they bring to the space.
As the nights grow longer and cooler, and the mornings are now veiled in the shadows of the early hour, we begin to feel that seasonal shift. Yes, friends, fall is on its way and for some of us, it is already here.
This Prune Bread has long been a favorite of mine. It is hearty and just sweet enough without being too heavy, making it perfect for breakfast with cream cheese and jam alongside a hot cup of coffee. It can also be served with a dollop of fresh whipped cream and enjoy in the evening for dessert. Whichever way you prefer, I know you will love it!
When I recreated this recipe, I decided to add just a sprinkle of white chocolate and walnuts for added texture to the bits of sweet prunes. Finish it off with a generous sprinkle of raw sugar before baking for a simple sugar crust in the end.

I think I have only one recipe of a baked good that actually calls for prunes, however I feel that they do lend a lot of tasty flavor and texture to cakes and muffins. It does look delicious and I love these style of cakes over the layer ones. Enjoy the day!

I've tried prune bread in a loaf pan and it seemed a bit dry. I tried this version in a bundt pan and it was so good. I love the addition of the white chocolate chips too it. That just gives it an additional taste and sweetness boost. A real keeper of a recipe. I'll be making a few of these to give as gifts.

I made this bread. It turned out lovely. Very tasty. I have a lovely photo but I cannot figure out how to attach it.
I will make this lovely bread part of my Christmas baking tradition for Christmas Breakfast. Delish with kahlua and coffee or just coffee or just kahlua! I did not do this but a friend suggested a kahlua glaze which would be out of this world.
