Yes, you can reheat falafel, and the best way to keep it crispy is to reheat it in the oven or air fryer.
I recommend reheating falafel either in the oven or in an air fryer, because a dry heat environment helps to restore and maintain the falafel’s crispiness. Microwaving, on the other hand, will soften the falafel. This applies to both homemade and store-bought falafel.

Best Methods to Reheat Falafel:
- Oven (Recommended)
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C)
- Place falafel on a baking sheet lined with parchment
- Bake for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway through
- Best Method Because: It ensures the crispiest coating.
- Air Fryer (Quickest)
- Preheat to 350°F (175°C)
- Air fry the falafel for 3–5 minutes until heated through and crisp
- Second Best Method Because: Does not ensure the same quality crisp that the oven does and requires an air fryer.
- Skillet (if short on time)
- Heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat
- Add falafel and cook for 1–2 minutes per side until crisp
- Third Best Method Because: This provides the least amount of crispness out of the three options, and causes the falafel to absorb oil.
What to Avoid:
Avoid microwaving falafel unless you're okay with a softer exterior. That said, I really do not recommend using the microwave to reheat falafel unless there’s no other option.
Storage and Make-Ahead Tips:
Store leftover falafel in an airtight container. Falafel can last in the fridge for up to 3 days. For best results, let them come to room temp for 10 minutes prior to reheating. They can also be enjoyed cold. Falafel can also be frozen for up to 2 months and reheated directly from frozen in an oven or air fryer, making this a great make-ahead option.
