Labneh is a thick, tangy yogurt dip popular in Mediterranean cuisine. Today we're playing into those flavors with a simple tapenade for a result that's fresh, zippy, and hearty enough for summer spreads.
We've been pretty lucky this season with a cool June. It's just warm enough to sit out by the dock but there's still a coolness in the air as the breeze from the bay blows through. Perfect picnic weather.
This week we've been busy shooting several outdoor spreads and I'm excited to share those upcoming recipes with you soon. So, to begin with our summer picnic series, I've got a fabulous appetizer that's cool and refreshing and takes only minutes to prep.
Labneh is just strained yogurt. It's slightly thicker than Greek yogurt (almost like cream cheese) and tangy which makes it the perfect base for a jazzed up spread.
I was inspired by the flavors of the Mediterranean and decided to make a garden style tapenade to serve over the labne with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, salt, and pepper. It's perfect for crackers or crostini and sliced vegetables. You can also use Labneh as a spread for sandwiches or a dip for wraps.
For today's recipe I am pleased to be partnering with Karoun Dairies who specialize in a wide variety of dairy products from kefir to ghee and everything in between. Their Labne is a smooth and creamy and made today's spread so easy to put together. Be sure to check out their website and social media to get inspired for your next summer gathering!
