    Blue Monday Curacao Mocktail

Written by Living the Gourmet, a trusted food and lifestyle site since 2008.

Inspired by the famous blue curacao cocktail, our Blue Monday Curacao Mocktail is an ode to the season with sweet and refreshing notes of citrus and pineapple.

It's hard to believe we're already welcoming August this week and by the end of the month, we'll start feeling the shorter days and colder evenings begin to set in. We still have a handful of summer recipes to share before September rolls around however, we are determined to savor every final moment of summer.

Let's kick off the final chapter of the season with a drink- a cheers to the grand finale of summer, if you will. Today's mocktail draws from the sweet sadness of summer's final days which inspired its name.

If you're anything like me, you may be familiar with those pretty blue summer cocktails but never exactly sure what to call them. It's a drink that goes by many names- many wacky names, but the base is a liqueur known as Curacao, which is derived from a citrus plant grown on the Dutch island of Curaçao.

For today's mocktail, we're using Curacao syrup. If you however, want to indulge in the grown-up version, simply use Curacao liqueur and add white rum or vodka to the drink. We've included the adjustments to the recipe card below.

This drink is both sweet and a little tart. When served over crushed ice, it really makes the perfect refreshment for those hot afternoons and the best part is, everyone can enjoy a tall glass- preferably in the JoyJolt Tumblers featured in today's post. 😉

So without further adieu, let's get mixing, sipping, and back outside.

Just beautiful. And that glass! I think I have curaçao in my liquor cabinet, so I’ll give this a go. Unfortunately, where I live, September is also hot, so I can’t bid adieu to summer quite yet, as much as I’d like to have it leave!

I had a similar drink like this before. Add a little coconut cream and wow it takes it up a notch!

I'm not familiar with a few ingredients in the drink. And aren't you a bit ahead of yourself dismissing the summer season?😊 Summer does not end until around September 20 and here in Northern California, it is legit summer up until then and I won't be rushing it.

The colour of this is brilliant! I love pineapple so I’m sure I’d love this cocktail or the mocktail version.

These look pretty fantastic with the glasses you used and the colour. I'd love one of those with plenty of crushed ice.

Catherine, I'm not much into cocktails...liquor straight up, a beer or a glass of wine. However, my better half would love the adult version of this attractive beverage. Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
