There was a little girl; pretty and sweet

She was lace and sweet tea with a scrape on her knee

The ribbons grew shorter as the years grew a bit longer

Her figure be slender and her voice quite soft

She lived in a dream which kept her aloft

The one with a beautiful seascape that sunsets dipped off

Her childlike heart remained through the years; though there be tears

She watched the ships sail to and fro, though she never got to go; she waits

She still is the little girl pretty and sweet

She still is the little girl though the prince she never did meet

Her heart still tender, though not untouched

Her heart has been broken through the words unspoken

She smiles through the miles

And knows not where her ribbons have gone

She keeps her heart guarded for it is fragile

For she still is the little girl who fell

The little girl who wanted so much to tell

The little girl who comes to Thee with the scraped knee
