"In a person's lifetime there may be not more than half a dozen occasions that he can look back to in the certain knowledge that right then, at that moment, there was room for nothing but happiness in his heart." -Ernestine Gilbreth Carey
Savor the small moments in life. Dancing in the kitchen while cooking. Laughing with those you love. Those are the moments that are most important.
Ingredients:
4 leftover hamburgers
3-4 cloves of garlic - chopped
1 tablespoons capers plus 1 tablespoon caper juice
1 small red onion
¼ cup red wine
28 oz. can peel tomatoes
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. black pepper
Fresh grated Romano or Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 lb. of your favorite macaroni
Heat a large cast iron frying pan with the olive oil. Add the garlic, onion, capers plus the juice and left over hamburgers, crumbled.
Sauté until the onion is softened. Add the tomatoes, wine and the seasonings and gently simmer on low, slightly covered for 25-30 minutes.
Prepare the macaroni as directed.
Serve with a drizzle of olive oil, dash of red pepper flakes and fresh grated cheese.
Enjoy with Love,
Catherine

Great idea. I've got a bunch of frozen burgers that may now be "sauced."

Does singing in the kitchen count, Catherine. I've been know to do a couple of stanzas of "'O sole mio" when making spaghetti sauce, lol...
I've actually done this a few times with leftover hamburgers, I need to remember the caper juice next time. I usually add capers but not the juice, why oh why, lol...
Thank you so much for sharing, Catherine...

Catherine, I love a great meat sauce with my pasta...and my better half makes a nice and spicy sauce. Your version is nice and thick, just the way I like it! Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

Hubby loves pasta with meat sauce and I sometimes do a sauce very similar to this Catherine but I use leftover veggie burgers (shhhh) so delicious but I never thought to use capers. What a great idea! I'll give that a try! I bet it adds a wonderful flavor. I love a bit of red wine, it adds such a great depth of flavor. Yummmmy 🙂 Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving friend!
