Summer has always been the balm to my soul, and though it saddens me to see it coming to an end, I will not take a moment of what is left for granted.

The days seem to be melting into a soft, hazy blur. It's hard to believe that it is already August.

I can tell by the slight chill lacing the evening air that Autumn isn't far off now. For the past couple of weeks, it has even been cool enough to turn the oven on.

There was an abundance of peaches this year-peaches and blueberries. I can never get enough of either, but today it's all about the peach.

I've been craving something simple. Nothing fancy or complicated. Just a ripe summer peach, softened in the oven with a little honey, butter, and marmalade, then served warm with something cold and creamy.

These baked peaches are exactly that: simple, comforting, and wonderfully suited to those last golden evenings of summer.

🍑 How do you make baked peaches?

Baked peaches are an easy summer dessert made by baking ripe, halved peaches with honey, marmalade, and butter until tender, golden, and bubbling. They take about 30 minutes in a 350°F oven and are especially delicious served warm with homemade vanilla ice cream.

Why You'll Love This Recipe

Taste & TExture

Sweet juicy peaches are baked until tender for a simple treat. They are best when served warm with vanilla ice cream or fresh whipped cream for an easy peaches-and-cream style dessert.

Difficulty Level

What I love about this recipe is how effortlessly elegant it came out. You only need four ingredients: peaches, marmalade, honey, and butter. The peaches only take about 30 minutes to bake, and you'll have a simple, seasonal dessert in practically no time.

Recipe Notes

  1. Choose ripe but firm peaches - Peaches that are fragrant and ripe but still hold their shape will give you the best texture after baking.
  2. Don't skip the butter - The butter melts into the honey and marmalade as the peaches bake, creating a glossy, flavorful sauce.
  3. Watch the baking time - Very ripe peaches may become tender more quickly, so begin checking around the 25-minute mark.
  4. Serve them warm - For the best peaches-and-cream experience, spoon the warm peaches and their juices over vanilla ice cream immediately after baking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use very ripe peaches for baked peaches?

Yes. Very ripe peaches work beautifully for baking because they become especially soft and juicy in the oven. Choose peaches that are ripe and fragrant but not spoiled or fermenting.

Should I peel peaches before baking them?

No. There is no need to peel the peaches for this recipe. Leaving the skin on helps the peach halves hold their shape while baking and makes preparation especially easy.

What temperature do you bake peaches at?

These peaches are baked at 350°F for approximately 30 minutes, or until they are tender, golden, and bubbling.

What do you serve with baked peaches?

Baked peaches are especially delicious served warm with vanilla ice cream. The contrast between the warm, juicy peaches and cold, creamy ice cream makes a simple summer dessert. Alternatively, you can also use whipped cream. If you desire, you can sprinkle granola or streusel on top, or leave plain with perhaps a dusting of confectioners' sugar.
