This week, Living the Gourmet had the pleasure of sitting down with celebrity chef Donatella Arpaia to discuss how to get their kids to eat more fruits and veggies this school year.
In June, the USDA released 10 tips for keeping food safe and clean for preschoolers. Among them, a recommendation to offer kids single serving options to help reduce the potential spread of germs. According to guidelines released by the CDC last year, children between 2 -18 years old were not eating the recommended amount of vegetables. While kids were eating more fruit than before, it still isn’t enough as only children ages 2 - 5 were getting the recommended amount of fruit.
Today, Chef Donatella is offering lunch ideas for busy parents looking for ways to sneak healthy snacks into their kids' lunches for school, as well as offering tips on how to eat healthier as a family.
Donatella is head judge on the Food Network’s popular Iron Chef America and Next Iron Chef, aside from being an award-winning restaurateur and cookbook author.
It has been a pleasure speaking with the Chef today. We hope you enjoyed this interview and picked up some helpful tips on how to make this year, your best and healthiest!
Enjoy with Love,
Catherine
