Teatime Scottish Shortbread Cookies (Easy Recipe)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 stick butter, chilled and grated
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.  Line an 8x8 square baking dish with parchment paper.  Set aside.
  2. Blend flour, sugar, and butter together.
  3. Pat the cookie dough to the prepared baking dish.
  4. Using a dough cutter, smooth the dough and then gently, score the dough into the desired size bars. Do not cut all the way down.  Finally, take a fork and prick the dough.
  5. Bake for 35 minutes or until golden.
  6. Remove and let cool slightly in the baking dish before transferring to a wire rack.
  7. Gently lift the shortbreads from the dish, using the overlapping parchment.  And let cool until warm.  The following the scored lines, gently slice the shortbreads.
  8. Serve with your favorite tea and enjoy!
