- 1 cup red wine
- 1 cup white sugar
- Bring wine and sugar to a boil, then lower to a simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the syrup coats the back of a spoon.
- Remove from the heat and transfer to a heat-proof bowl and let cool completely. The syrup will thicken more as it cools and sets.
- To serve, drizzle over ice cream or a slice of cake.
